Making a Difference Locally, Nationally, and Globally

At Blackmore Vale Rotary, we’re proud to roll up our sleeves and get involved wherever we’re needed. From supporting our neighbours in Wincanton to   contributing to international humanitarian projects,   our members give their time, energy, and enthusiasm to make life better for others.
We believe in service, friendship, and having fun along the way — and everything we do reflects that spirit.

Local Activities

We’re deeply rooted in our local community, taking part in hands‑on projects and events throughout the year, including:

• Helping at Zeals Village Hall Fete
• Leading and running the Wincanton Volunteer Fair, connecting charities with new volunteers
• Collecting donations for the Wincanton  Carnival
• Supporting the Wincanton Food Bank,             including funding their new permanent home
• Attending the Wincanton Remembrance Day Parade
• Marshalling at Wincanton Fireworks
• Repairing a garden fence for a single mum in town
• Playing in the Rotary District Skittles League
• Welcoming a variety of guest speakers to our meetings

Supporting Other Charities

We’re proud to stand alongside organisations doing vital work across the region and beyond. Our support has included:

• Children’s Hospice South West
• Marie Curie Cancer Care, through local           collection efforts
• Water Survival Box
• Racing Welfare Charity
• Fundraising Race Nights for Eastfields of Somerton, Dementia UK & Parkinson’s UK (Wincanton Branch)
• Supported Got Your Six's Quiz night
• Donations to the Purple Community Fund
• Collecting at Shepton Mallet Carnival
• Helping to run the Sherborne Classic Car Show
• Collecting old mobile phones and computers from across the county for Wincanton Donate  IT, helping refurbish devices for people who need them and are digital disadvantaged.

Global Impact

Rotary is a worldwide family, and we’re proud to   contribute to international projects that change lives on a global scale. Our involvement includes:

• Supporting Rotary’s End Polio Now campaign — one of the world’s most successful public health initiatives, working to eradicate polio for good
• Supporting the Water Survival Box project — these emergency kits are sent to disaster zones worldwide and are currently being used by    soldiers on the front line in Ukraine, where the built‑in filters allow them to turn brackish or contaminated water into safe drinking water
• Supporting international aid organisations such as the Purple Community Fund

Fun & Fellowship

Service is at the heart of what we do — but so is     enjoying each other’s company. We make time for:

• A wonderfully silly Christmas meal, complete with a visit from Santa
• Taking part in Burns Night Around the world,  for good causes
•  Joining Rotary clubs across the globe, in  Canada & Nassua.
• Social events, quiz nights, and club gatherings that strengthen friendships
• Opportunities to meet new people and share new experiences both locally and globally.
